Review: Minichamps BMW M1 "Denim"

Highs: Another great Minichamps model, especially because no other manufacturer has attempted the M1 in 1/18 scale. Body integrity is superb, everything fits tightly. Engine is a thing of beauty, in multiple colors, textures and finishes, with wiring. Paint and graphics are perfect. If you get one, turn it over and check out the hoses running from the intake holes in the front air dam back to the brakes for cooling purposes.

Lows: Front hood does not open, but otherwise this is an outstanding model.

Summary: Of all the M1 models done by Minichamps (yellow Telefonbuch, red BASF, Carte de France, etc.), I think this is the least popular. Most collectors seem anxious to get the Carte de France and the BASF models, and demand on ebay seems low for this 'Denim' version. But as I point out on my Diecast Rankings page, what I like about this particular M1 is the way it matches up and displays so well next to Minichamps BMW M3 Petit Le Mans car. And you can often find this car available for under $60. It's a lot of diecast for the money, and a highly accurate representation of what was a beautiful car.
