Highs: WOW! This is one of the finest models in my collection, and one of the best diecast I've ever seen. Part of Ertl's Precision 100 line, it's amazing that this actually came from Ertl at all. There are so many "highs" on this diecast, no matter how much I write I'm probably missing alot. Get ready for a recurring theme here....the word "real".
The paint is outstanding...smooth, rich, and without blemishes. The interior is as real as it gets on a diecast. Forget anything you've seen from Kyosho, Autoart, Minichamps, nothing comes close without spending $100+. The seats actually feel like real vinyl. They flip forward and move fore and aft. The steering wheel looks perfect. There's a dash mounted tach, which has the wire running out of the back and into the dash making it look like it's actually hooked up. There's a set of keys hanging from the ignition, an ashtray that can be opened and a glovebox that can be opened too. Everything about the interior, from the gauges in the dash, to the detail on the door panels, to the metal door sills is awesome. It's flat-out the best diecast interior I've ever seen. The doors themselves work great, clicking firmly into a mechanism in the door jamb, and with real hinges. Now let's talk about the engine...you access it by removing two tiny hood pins and opening the hood which is mounted to the same amazing hinge system used on the rest of the Precision 100 line. The engine is fully plumbed and wired, and is beautiful to behold. Note the air screens in the back of the hood bulge in the photo below....they're real! The chrome work is outstanding, with front and rear bumpers that you'd swear is real chrome. Also realistic is the side body mouldings and logos....no stickers here. And all moulding are perfectly set on the car, and accurately lined up. What else? How about a fully working suspension, a working driveshaft that spins when the rear wheels roll, front tow-bars, and a fuel door which can be opened. And talk about heavy and substantial...this is the opposite of my Autoart Saleen Mustang. Where the Saleen is predominantly plastic, this is predominantly metal. I believe the car itself weighs almost 3 lbs. I could go on and on...it's that nice. Just go buy one...for $60 it's a steal.
Lows: This section isn't necessary...there are none.
Summary: On a scale of 1-10, it's a 20. If you own one, you know exactly what I mean. If you don't, get one before they're all gone as I believe the Ertl Precision line has been discontinued.
