Review: Autoart Porsche 996 GT2 Silver

Highs: Possibly the first model I've EVER bought, that came out of the box without a single blemish anywhere. Paint is perfect, wheel alignment is perfect, everything is perfect. Fit and finish is excellent, all gaps are tight. The yellow brake calipers are wonderful, as is the detailed interior. Car is fully carpeted, including the rear, with the GT2 designation in the rear area (see photo below). Headlights extremely well done, as are almost all details. Car sits right, and just looks great.

Lows: Model is lightweight, so for those of you used to collecting GMP models, you will notice a large difference in weight. Engine nothing special, though I think that's more a function of the real car's design than the model. Just not much room to show off the engine given it's rear configuration. Does have dog-leg hinges, but they don't bother me that much. Big downer is that the hood does not stay up on its own.

Summary: Considering it can be bought easily on ebay, and many online retailers, for under $50 I think it's a fantastic value. So many great details, and I think the wheel-brake caliper detail just makes this car. The yellow calipers, against the silver paint of the car, just look great. The fact that mine came out of the box perfect is testament to Autoart's quality control these days. This model is highly recommended, as is the other Autoart Porsche in my collection, the red GT3.
